Rabi' al-Awwal is the 3rd month in the Hijri calendar. It is one of the most significant months in the Islamic history, as it is believed to be the month of our Prophet Muhammad SAW's birth.
Let’s learn how to make the most of it by observing the following 5 deeds:
1- Send Durood Upon the Holy Prophet (SAW)
“Indeed, Allāh confers blessing upon the Prophet, and His angels [ask Him to do so]. O you who have believed, ask [Allāh to confer] blessing upon him and ask [Allāh to grant him] peace.” – [Surah Al-Ahzab: 56]
2- Keep a Voluntary (Nafl) Fast On Mondays
It is Sunnah to keep Nafl fasts on Monday and Thursday as was the practice of our Prophet Muhammad SAW, and it guarantees great rewards.
Aishah (R.A.) narrated:
"The Prophet used to try to fast on Mondays and Thursdays." – [Tirmidhi: 745]
3- Feed the Poor and Needy
Spending wealth in the way of Allah SWT is a beautiful way of expressing our gratitude towards Him while preparing for the Hereafter. Not to mention, it is Sunnah to give charity towards good causes.
Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said,
“Charity wipes away sin as water extinguishes fire.” – [Tirmidhi: 2616]
4- Make Medical Arrangements For a Sick Muslim
Another selfless deed is to make medical arrangements for a poor Muslim if your pocket allows and check upon them more often to ensure they are well and taken care of.
5- Pray Tahajjud More Often
Not only is praying Tahajjud Sunnah, it is concluded that the best prayer after the obligatory prayers is the Night Prayer.
Prophet Muhammad SAW said,
“Pray at night when people are asleep and you will enter Paradise.” – [Tirmidhi: 2485]
May Allah bless us all with great rewards in this life followed by Jannah in the Hereafter. Ameen.
