Why Muhammad Ali's Hollywood star is on a wall and not the ground?
In 2002, iconic boxer, Muhammad Ali was honoured with a star on the world famous ‘Hollywood Walk of Fame’ but he refused to have his name on the floor of ‘Walk of Fame’ because he said:
“I bear the name of our Beloved Prophet Mohammad (S.A.W.) and it is impossible that I allow people to trample over his name".
Ali told Hollywood Chamber of Commerce that the only way he would agree to have his name included in that line up is if his star was placed on a wall, facing upright, so no one could step on it. In order to honor the greatest sportsman all time, they had no choice but to agree to Ali’s condition.
‘Hollywood Walk of Fame’ comprises more than 2,600 stars and Ali's is the only star whose name is not on the floor and instead hangs on the wall.
